Peter Dinklage is joining Renée Zellweger, Dominic Sessa, and other stars in an upcoming comedy-drama film. Production is set to take place in the United Kingdom and is expected to begin next spring.
Titled Darlington, the project will kick off international sales at the American Film Market. According to Deadline, the two-time Oscar winner Zellweger leads the film alongside Dinklage and BAFTA Award nominee Sessa. Sacha Gervasi will direct the film from his own screenplay.
This marks Dinklage and Gervasi’s second collaboration after the 2018 film My Dinner with Hervé. Alison Owen and Debra Hayward produce Darlington for Monumental Pictures, while Jim Garavente produces for Portobello Electric. Alexander Payne serves as an executive producer for the upcoming film.
Renée Zellweger’s co-stars and the unusual story behind Darlington
Darlington stars Renée Zellweger as Kate Spencer, a faded actress long forgotten by the entertainment industry. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she gets an opportunity to revive her career. She receives an invitation to reprise her most famous TV role, but not through a traditional on-screen revival.
Dominic Sessa plays a reclusive tech billionaire who restores an English country estate to its 1923 appearance. He isolates himself from modern society, living in a constructed fantasy. Kate steps into this strange, artificial reality to play along. However, she soon realizes that the boundary between illusion and reality is more complex than she anticipated.
Peter Dinklage also joined the cast in an undisclosed role. The Game of Thrones star recently appeared in Idiots and Wicker. In addition to Darlington, his upcoming projects include the animated films Steps and Lincoln in the Bardo, as well as the live-action film Lear Rex.
Darlington offers Gervasi a unique premise to explore offbeat comedy, featuring several major stars. An official premiere date for the film has yet to be announced.
