Avengers: Doomsday Rumor Is Exactly What MCU Sentry Fans Don’t Want to Hear

Sentry fans may not like the latest update on the MCU character’s role in Avengers: Doomsday. A new rumor suggests he won’t get to shine too much in the movie.

The character first appeared in last year’s Thunderbolts*, portrayed by Lewis Pullman. Following the release of new promotional art for Doomsday, featuring several iconic heroes and Doctor Doom, trusted insider James Mack wrote on X, “It’s really sad that Bob isn’t appearing in literally any of the promotional material for Avengers: Doomsday.”

The scooper also mentioned that Sentry initially had “an important role in the story. Now, he’s basically just getting a heroic moment in the final battle, which will be insane.”

While Mack has a credible track record with his claims, fans should take the latest rumor with a grain of salt until there is an official update on Sentry from Marvel Studios.

The rumored changes to Sentry’s place in the story

Sentry was introduced as a mighty character in his full suit in Thunderbolts*. His power level made him a perfect choice to go against a supervillain like Doctor Doom. Unfortunately, recent rumors have hinted at reduced screen time for him in Avengers: Doomsday’s larger narrative.

Another Marvel insider account, @MCUFilmNews on X, previously claimed that Sentry had a larger role in the plot. In fact, he was even described as the “MVP” in Doomsday, alongside Magneto, due to his superhuman abilities.

It appears directors Joe and Anthony Russo have decided to scale back the character’s involvement. Based on the rumors, it seems he will likely stay on the sidelines and appear only during the final battle against Doctor Doom. Although the story details are still under wraps, a few rumors suggest that one scene may feature Sentry stopping the incursion with just his hands. But again, all unverified reports should be treated with caution.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026.
