Who else stars in the new Playboy movie with Bill Pullman and Lily-Rose Depp?
Alongside Bill Pullman and Lily-Rose Depp, the upcoming coming-of-age drama stars Indiana Elle and Vanessa Paradis. Elle rose to prominence with her feature debut as Amanda Seyfried’s daughter in The Housemaid. Lorraine Nicholson is directing the feature from her own script.
The plot of Playmates is set in Los Angeles and is inspired by the director’s own childhood experiences. Nicholson shared how she grew up around the Playboy Mansion and how childhood was shaped there. The narrative follows Elle and Anna as they form an unexpected bond and help each other pursue what they want the most, that is a magazine cover and a boy.
In an essay for Vanity Fair, Lorraine Nicholson wrote, “I never went to summer camp. I never had an after-school activity. From the year I was born, 1990, until I was about 11, I went to the Playboy Mansion, because that’s where my friends were. There were the kids—like curly-haired Taylor, whose parents actually met at the Midsummer Night’s Dream party.”
The filmmaker further added, “There were the girls—more Playmates past, present, and future—and of course, the men. Only half my friends there were actually children, but that didn’t matter. The adults who hung out at the Mansion, like Alison and Joel, liked to play too.”
