Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for its upcoming animated comedy, The Cat in the Hat. The new animated film draws from Dr. Seuss’ 1957 children’s book of the same name about a tall, anthropomorphic cat known for his red-and-white-striped top hat and red bow tie.
The new footage leans into the character’s signature chaos while introducing a new central story. Bill Hader voices the titular character, who works for a mysterious organization called the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC (I.I.I.I.). His new duty sends him to help two siblings struggling to adjust after moving to a new home in a different town. However, it’s not that simple; if anything goes wrong, he may end up losing his job.

What happens in The Cat in the Hat trailer?
The trailer follows two siblings, Gabby and Sebastian, who move into a new home in a new town with their mom. Upon arriving at the new home, the mom says, “We’re here! Better neighbourhood, better schools.” While the mom seems excited, the children aren’t exactly happy, as they just left their favorite life in the old home.
When the mom leaves for work, the children are seen in dismay. That’s when the mischievous cat invades their home from a mouse hole. That panics the siblings, and the Cat quickly introduces himself as “I’m the Cat in the Hat.”
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer then shows the cat using a magical watch that can turn back time. He takes the children back to their old neighborhood and leads them into a fantastical adventure. The titular cat guides them to embrace life as they navigate their difficult transition.
Alongside Bill Hader, the star-studded voice cast features Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, and Paula Pell.
The Cat in the Hat premieres in theaters on November 6, 2026, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
