A major Avengers: Doomsday star has joined Michael B. Jordan’s Miami Vice ’85. The casting adds another familiar face to Universal Pictures’ upcoming feature adaptation of the iconic crime series.
According to a report from Deadline, Danny Ramirez has joined the cast alongside lead stars Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler. Joseph Kosinski is directing the feature from a script written by Dan Gilroy. Details surrounding Ramirez’s specific role are currently being kept under wraps.
Miami Vice ’85 will explore the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami. The movie is inspired by the pilot episode of the original Miami Vice series. Universal plans to shoot the film for IMAX, and the production is going to start this year.
Who else stars in Miami Vice ’85 with Michael B. Jordan and Danny Ramirez?
In addition to Ramirez, Jordan, and Butler, the ensemble cast features Alden Ehrenreich, Camila Morrone, and Whitney Peak.
The feature film will utilize original characters created by Anthony Yerkovich, who executive produced the 1980s series alongside Michael Mann. Dan Gilroy penned the current screenplay, building on an earlier draft by Eric Warren Singer. Kosinski and Dylan Clark are producing the project.
Ramirez recently completed production on Todd Haynes’ upcoming drama De Noche, starring alongside Pedro Pascal. The actor also made his feature directorial and writing debut with Baton, expanding his credits behind the camera. Kosinski’s film will bring those elements into a new story set during the same era.
Miami Vice ’85 is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on May 19, 2028.
