Rob Reiner’s son Jake has expressed his anger over the untimely deaths of his parents. Following making his first public appearance in months, Jake Reiner has now given his first interview with the press. In the same interview, Reiner spoke at great length about how the incident has affected his life and where he stands currently.
Speaking with The Wrap, Reiner spoke about his feelings on the matter following the indictment of his brother Nick in the case. While he didn’t explicitly speak about Nick, Jake commented on how he is processing the situation. “For me, it manifests into anger,” he said.
“It manifests into rage, into how unfair this was, how I didn’t get a say in what happened. I didn’t get to stop it from happening. I had no choice in the matter. I just have to accept the reality of it. And to me, that is just one of the most infuriating parts of all of this.”

Reiner went on to add that despite any new revelations in the case, he will find it hard to come to terms with the aftermath of his parents’ deaths. “I’ll never understand. I don’t care how it’s explained to me,” he added. “I don’t care what facts come out. I will never understand why this happened.”
Earlier this year, Nick Reiner pleaded not guilty to the murder charges during a court appearance in Los Angeles. Nick has been held without bail since his arrest shortly after his parents’ death. The actor faced two counts of first-degree murder with a special-circumstance allegation tied to multiple killings. Following the grand jury’s issuance of an indictment, prosecutors will be able to move ahead toward trial without a preliminary hearing.
At the time of writing, Nick Reiner’s case does not have a trial date. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for September 15, 2026. Reiner is being represented by a public defender.
