Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is headed to Disney+ following a phenomenal box office run. Fans can soon enjoy the acclaimed hit from the comfort of their homes.
Toy Story 5 arrives on Disney+ on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The movie’s streaming debut comes three months after its theatrical release on June 19.
Directed by Andrew Stanton, Toy Story 5 is the latest installment of the beloved film series. The movie is set two years after the events of Toy Story 4 and returns with Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, and the other toys who are now under the care of eight-year-old Bonnie. However, the arrival of Lilypad, a tablet, leaves the toys worried as it becomes Bonnie’s new favorite plaything and takes up all her attention.
Tom Hanks reprised his role as Woody, along with Tim Allen as Buzz, and Joan Cusack as Jessie. Returning cast members from the previous films also include Keanu Reeves, Bonnie Hunt, Annie Potts, and Tony Hale, among others. The ensemble voice cast also features Conan O’Brien, Greta Lee, Scarlett Spears, Shelby Rabara, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Craig Robinson, and Alan Cumming.
Toy Story 5 shattered a major franchise box office record
Toy Story 5 had its world premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on June 9, before its theatrical release ten days later. The movie was met with widespread acclaim and box office success, breaking multiple records. The film grossed a worldwide total of $1.129 billion. Its global weekend debut earnings of $310.2 million mark the highest not only in the franchise’s history but also in Pixar’s.
Additionally, Toy Story 5 became the third-highest-grossing film of 2026 and the tenth highest-grossing animated film of all time.
Following the film’s release, director Andrew Stanton, who has written all five Toy Story movies, teased an upcoming installment. He referred to the first three movies as the “Andy years,” but shared his plans for “another trilogy with Bonnie. (via The Hollywood Reporter)” No further details about the potential projects have surfaced yet.
