A brand-new movie starring Daveed Diggs and Hamish Linklater is all set to arrive on Prime Video today, Thursday. The 2024 historical drama film is critically acclaimed and has received several Oscar nominations.
According to the latest updates, Nickel Boys will be available to stream on Prime Video from August 27, 2026. Fans with an active subscription will be able to stream it seamlessly.
Directed by RaMell Ross, the movie received a couple of Academy Award nominations. The feature was nominated for Best Motion Picture of the Year and Best Adapted Screenplay. It has received 180 nominations and has secured 61 wins so far.
Nickel Boys was released in the USA on December 25, 2024. Despite the movie being critically acclaimed, it failed to impress at the box office. According to The Numbers, Nickel Boys grossed $3,214,938 worldwide. It received a 92% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
What is Daveed Diggs’ Nickel Boys movie about?
Diggs’ Oscar-nominated movie was based on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Colson Whitehead’s novel of the same name. The summary of Nickel Boys, per Prime Video, reads, “Elwood Curtis, a young African-American boy, is sent to the Nickel Academy after he is falsely accused of a crime. While there, he meets a boy named Turner, and the two form a close friendship as they try to survive the horrors of the school and its corrupt administrators.”
Apart from Linklater and Diggs, Nickel Boys featured Ethan Cole Sharp, Sam Malone, Najah Bradley, Jase Stidwell, Legacy Jones, Jimmie Fails, Peter Gabb, and Bill Martin Williams. It also featured Ellison Booker, Zach Primo, Sean Tyrik, Bryant Tardy, Trey Perkins, and more.
