Insidious: Out of the Further Is Already Setting Box Office Records

Insidious: Out of the Further has set a new record for horror movies at the box office this year. The new film is the sixth installment in the horror franchise that started in 2010. Following its opening, the film received mostly positive reviews, ranking second behind the first film.

According to a report from Interaksyon, Insidious: Out of the Further has set the record for the highest-grossing opening day for a horror film in the Philippines. The film collected ₱51,682,703 on its first day, which is roughly over $837,000 when converted to USD. The film was released in the Philippines earlier this week on August 19, 2026.

Deadline reported that the film is targeting an opening weekend gross between $49 and $53 million worldwide. It should be noted that the new film won’t be released in Japan or China. Its pre-sales were tracking to be on par with 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door. The franchise has grossed over $740 million worldwide to date.

What audiences can expect from the latest Insidious chapter

The upcoming sequel follows a mother who discovers she can travel to the realm of the dead, called the Further. This supernatural power draws the attention of the demon Cyrus, played by A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Sam Spruell. The film will surprisingly break tradition by having its villains be “funny,” according to franchise mainstay Lin Shaye.

Insidious: Out of the Further is written and directed by Jacob Chase. It stars Amelia Eve, Brandon Perea, Lin Shaye, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Sam Spruell, Laura Gordon, and more. The film is produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell. Those who want to check out The Asylum’s take on the franchise can check out its latest mockbuster, available now on digital platforms.

Insidious: Out of the Further is now playing in theaters worldwide.
