Zack Snyder has released an intriguing trailer for his upcoming film The Last Photograph. The Justice League and Army of the Dead director has been developing the film for over a decade. The Last Photograph’s teaser suggests viewers should prepare for a dark, surreal mystery that may be more grounded than Snyder’s previous films.
The director released the footage on his own social media channels, stating that the full trailer will follow soon. The upcoming film follows a former DEA operative who ventures into the remote mountains of South America to find his missing niece and nephew. After their diplomat parents are brutally murdered, he joins forces with a troubled war photographer who claims to be the only person to have seen the killers. As they move deeper into the mountains, the two confront violence, loss, and their own pasts.

Zack Snyder continues exploring darker stories and fractured realities
Following the culmination of his tenure at Warner Bros, Snyder went on to build multiple original franchises at Netflix. In 2021, the American filmmaker directed and released Army of the Dead, following a squad attempting a heist in a zombie-infested Las Vegas. The film resulted in a much more grounded prequel, and Snyder moved on to making the Rebel Moon films. The sci-fi franchise got two entries exploring an alternate universe drafted by Snyder, with plans for further sequels and spin-offs canceled.
Unlike Snyder’s previous films, The Last Photograph currently doesn’t have any major Hollywood studio attached to it for distribution. The Last Photograph stars Stuart Martin and Fra Fee. Snyder directs the film from a screenplay by Kurt Johnstad, based on an original story by the director.
At the time of writing, The Last Photograph doesn’t have an official release date. It is expected to be released in 2027.
