New set photos from Disney’s live-action Tangled remake have provided fans with their first clear look at Kathryn Hahn in full costume as the villainous Mother Gothel.
In a recent update on X (Formerly Twitter) from Tangled Updates, pictures from the set of the live-action movie were posted. The post read, “FIRST LOOK AT KATHRYN HAHN IN COSTUME AS MOTHER GOTHEL IN THE LIVE-ACTION ‘TANGLED’” These pictures gave the audience a chance to peek at Hahn’s look for her villainous role of Mother Gothel.
Hahn could be seen wearing a burgundy-colored costume, much in line with the description in the cartoon. The pictures also revealed Hahn maintaining long and curly hair, which, again, is similar to how the character appeared in the animated movie.
Hahn was roped in by Disney earlier this year for the role. Initially, it was Scarlett Johansson, who was speculated to be playing the character. However, due to her engagements in The Batman Part II and the MCU’s Black Widow, she refrained from continuing with the project. Hahn, on the other hand, had played a villainous role in Marvel’s WandaVision as Agatha Harkness.
Rapunzel gets her iconic braid in new Tangled live-action set footage
The original Tangled dropped 16 years ago. Now, as Disney is remaking the movie into a live-action film, the excitement is palpable. While the studio is yet to release any official set photos, Tangled Updates has provided an interesting update on the protagonist of the movie, Rapunzel. The main character, played by Teagan Croft, could be spotted with her iconic long braids.
Taking to X, the account posted set photos and videos with the caption reading, “SPOILERS: Rapuzel (Teagan Croft) gets her hair braided in new HD video from the live-action ‘TANGLED’ kingdom set.”
The set video showed Croft filming a scene where her long hair was being braided. Directed by Michael Gracey, the movie also features Milo Manheim and Diego Luna. Currently, the movie has begun its production and is expected to hit theaters in 2028.
