Jamie Foxx is set to star in Deadlocked, an upcoming action thriller from Amazon MGM Studios. The project will be helmed by acclaimed Indian filmmaker Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, according to a recent report from Deadline.
Deadlocked centers on a grieving former Marine serving jury duty who finds himself back in action when chaos erupts during a high-profile trial, when the defendant’s daughter seizes the courthouse, leading to a deadly hostage crisis.
Bhat will reportedly direct Foxx in Deadlocked. He is best known for directing the 2023 Hindi-language action-thriller Kill, which was inspired by a train robbery he experienced in 1995. Kill premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2023, where it became the first runner-up for the People’s Choice Award: Midnight Madness.

Deadlocked, the upcoming hostage action thriller, will exclusively arrive on Prime Video for streaming. Besides Jamie Foxx, the movie has not announced any additional cast members yet. The screenplay comes from Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack, based on their original idea.
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones serves as producer, alongside Fred Berger for Range, Dave Caplan for C2, and Foxx for Foxxhole Productions. The executive producers include Bourscheid, Liz Destro, Paul Currie and Corinne Foxx.
Jamie Foxx won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004 biopic Ray. He also earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor that same year for his performance in Michael Mann’s crime film Collateral.
Foxx’s stellar filmography also includes Dreamgirls, Django Unchained, Baby Driver, Annie, and Horrible Bosses, among others. He played Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a role that he later reprised in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Last year, Foxx starred in Netflix’s Back in Action alongside Cameron Diaz. Besides Deadlocked, the actor’s upcoming projects include the biographical sports drama, Fight For ’84.
