Marvel’s SDCC Display May Have Spoiled Doctor Doom’s Biggest Avengers: Doomsday Twist

Marvel Studios may have accidentally revealed a massive crossover twist for its upcoming blockbuster before cameras even finish rolling. A fan-favorite costume reveal at Marvel’s SDCC display for Avengers: Doomsday brewed speculations online, hinting that three familiar MCU characters could return as Doctor Doom’s mystical enforcers.

The Biggest Theory About the Latverian Witches’ Different Colors in Avengers: Doomsday

San Diego Comic-Con 2026 kicked off on July 23. It gave the attendees a first glimpse at Avengers: Doomsday through the Marvel Studios exhibit. However, it was the mysterious Latverian Witch costume display that quickly made the discussions on social media.

User @Marvel_Insights, an account for Marvel leaks, theories, and unknown facts, posted a theory based on these colorful robes.

It stated, “New rumor claims that Doctor Doom will have multiple Latverian Witches fighting alongside him. We could see variants of Wanda Maximoff, Maria Rambeau, and Peggy Carter serving as Doom’s Latverian Witches in Avengers: Doomsday.”

While early photos from the convention floor initially highlighted a green robe, subsequent days added yellow and purple variations to the exhibit. A red variant scheduled for revelation on the final day of the convention.

While most of the fans agree that Wanda Maximoff could be one of the witches, they are not sure about the other two.

A comment under the post stated, “Captain Carter and Maria Rambeau aren’t witches; Wanda is the only one I can see coming back is Agatha because she can be brought back by Doom using Franklin.” Another comment added, “No, one is Agatha (purple), one is Sylvie (green), and the other might be Scarlet Witch.”

Moreover, the users also noticed that the colors of the gowns match some of the Infinity Stones. A user commented, “Could they be his weird multiverse variant of infinity stones??? Idk.” Apart from these, an important detail worth noting is that these witches in Marvel lore are typically tied to Cynthia von Doom, Doctor Doom’s mother.

However, these are only theories and should be treated as such, as Marvel has not confirmed any of these. The only confirmed aspect is that Avengers: Doomsday would include the Latverian Witches.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on December 18, 2026.
