Hunter Doohan and Jenna Ortega take their friendship beyond Wednesday sets. Doohan said in a recent interview that his friend had told him one important thing ahead of the Evil Dead Burn premiere.
What did Jenna Ortega tell Hunter Doohan before ‘Evil Dead Burn’?
Doohan is set to star in Evil Dead Burn, which will be out in theaters soon. He recently interviewed with People to promote his new horror film.
In the interview, he spoke about his Wednesday co-star and her support for his new role, stating, “She’s so excited. She loves the franchise and I saw her right before I left and she was just wishing me best of luck in Paris for the premiere.”
Moreover, he stated that the actress “couldn’t be happier” to see him join one of the most beloved horror movie series. He also called her a “scream queen in her own right,” due to her roles in horror flicks like Scream, X, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
The two met on the set of Netflix‘s Wednesday, with Ortega leading the show as the titular character and Doohan playing her love interest with secrets. As of now, the cast is filming Season 3 in Dublin, while the Evil Dead Burn star will join them after the Paris Premiere. His cast members have shown support as well, as he stated, “Everyone on the cast is really excited for me, and we always do that for each other.”

Before his casting, Doohan had already watched Fede Álvarez’s 2013 Evil Dead reboot. However, he watched Evil Dead II and turned into a much bigger fan while preparing for his role as Joseph in the upcoming movie.
Among other franchise lore, what connected the Evil Dead sequel to his Netflix show was Bruce Campbell battling his possessed hand, which became a reference point for Wednesday’s Thing. He then dove deeper into the film franchise to understand the story behind the undead parasitic spirits known as Deadites, integral to the horror series’ world, via People.
Evil Dead Burn will be out in theaters starting July 10, 2026.
