The full trailer for Enola Holmes 3 has finally dropped. Netflix‘s newest mystery adventure movie looks promising as the trailer highlights Millie Bobby Brown‘s growth as a franchise lead.
“Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before,” reads the film’s synopsis.
The upcoming movie is directed by Emmy winner Philip Barantini (Adolescence), with Jack Thorne writing the screenplay. It also stars Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury, Himesh Patel as Dr. Watson, Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Mira Troy/Moriarty, Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, and Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes. In addition to leading the cast, Brown is also serving as a producer.
Enola Holmes 3 trailer review
The Enola Holmes 3 trailer starts strong with a thrilling chase sequence. We see Brown’s character in a wedding dress as she points her rifle at someone while standing on top of a moving carriage. This perfectly teased how much different the new sequel will be compared to the previous installments in terms of scale and scope. Throughout the trailer, we get a sense that the upcoming movie will have higher stakes and leveled-up action, as our fan-favorite heroine has finally grown up.
In the trailer, we can see that Enola looks more experienced and capable in her detective skills. This is definitely satisfying to watch, especially when fans followed her growth from a kid dreaming of becoming like Sherlock Holmes in the first movie, to being an amateur detective trying to prove herself in the sequel, and now finally getting recognized as an established detective. The upcoming movie might also be an opportunity for Brown to fully cement her status as a leading lady.
In the first two films, she spent the whole time trying to prove herself as worthy of being a great detective like her brother. It’s interesting that in the new film, we’ll get to see her struggle with the idea of possibly losing her identity if she gets married. Although we know that she truly loves Tewkesbury, we also understand how much her last name means to her. I think the trailer managed to perfectly set up her dilemma.
Overall, I believe that the trailer did a great job of hyping up the new film to fans. It featured many exciting moments, while teasing what to expect from each of the franchise’s returning characters. It seems like the Enola Holmes franchise will continue to be a guaranteed win for Netflix.
