The Just for Laughs Comedy Festival (also known as “Juste pour rire”) is a wide array of indoor and outdoor comedy shows and one of many reasons to come to Montréal this Summer. From July 13 through August 1, Montréal becomes host to the hottest stars in comedy today. With 250 shows and 1,400 performances, there’s something for everyone’s sense of humor.

With so many big names and acts to take in, we’re going to do our very best to highlight the must-see performances.

For something a little different, make sure to see The Ethnic Show, hosted by one of Quebec’s biggest breakout stars, Rachid Badouri. Although this is Badouri’s first year taking over the Ethnic Show, he’s sold over 750,000 tickets during his career and is a highly sought-out act. Joining Badouri will be Nigerian-American Godfrey, Greek-American Yannis Pappas, from the Bronx, Puerto Rican Gina Brillon, Jewish-American Jessica Kirson and special guest, Italian-American Dom Irrera.

For those of you with a filthier form of funny in mind, The Nasty Show features the proclaimed “Celine Dion of dick jokes” Mike Ward returning to host the show for a second year. Ward is joined by Bobby Slayton, otherwise known as the Pitbull of Comedy, Brad Williams, Tiffany Haddish, and Last Comic Standing alumni, the hilarious Ralphie May.

Other key highlights include the lunacy of Tom Green, Saturday Night Live’s Jay Pharoah, ‘Not Safe’ host Nikki Glaser, political conversation with Lewis Black, the cast of Veep, Sarah Silverman in concert, a Carrie Fisher comedy gala, a roast battle with the roastmaster himself, Jeff Ross, and so much more.

The Just for Laughs Comedy Festival is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to things to do in Montréal this summer. What’s more, with an advantageous exchange rate, this summer is the perfect time to visit. Just a short flight or drive away from many major US cities, getting to Montréal couldn’t be easier. Check out Air Canada, for great deals as they offer the most non-stop service from NYC to Montréal.
