If you’re not familiar with SONGZIO but you’re a fan of fantastically tailored garnets with a little edge, meet your new favorite fashion brand. Founded in 1993 by Zio Song, SONGZIO is one of the leading names in Korean fashion. Showing during both Seoul Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week (from 2007 to now), the brand shows how menswear is now free from the style differences between Eastern and Western cultures as SONGZIO brings it all together.

In addition to the precision of Song’s style aesthetic, he continues to tailor garments that speak to the man who’s looking for options beyond the simple basics. The Fall 2016 collection is high quality and as usual, surprises with exactness. There are a lot of similarities seen on the runways this season but Song’s designs breathe a breath of fresh air into the fashion scene. A definite difference in the SONGZIO collection is the style of pants. The wide leg and front pleat is definitely unexpected in a time when flat front, fitted, ankle length pants seem to rule however, Song makes this look work with ease. Yes, even the full pleated trouser looks wearable for the guys who’s not afraid to venture down that path.

When viewing any Fall/Winter collection, its expected to see a brave new take on outerwear and Song doesn’t dissapoint. From the long double breasted trench coat with chest pockets to the black leather moto jacket, models gave off an elusive, mysterious man vibe. Song’s use of black, navy blue, red and green added to the elusive man persona but what was probably the most awe inspiring piece was the mid-torso length, hooded knit turtleneck with chest pockets paired back to slim fitting trench coats. It’s an interesting take on a hoody, scarf combo but we will all have to wait to see if it translates from the runway to the streets.
