LG V10 Has Two Front-Facing Cameras to Take Wide-Angle Selfies Without a Selfie Stick

With so much importance being placed upon a smartphone’s ability to take a good selfie these days, most smartphone manufacturers are falling over one another to produce higher quality front-facing cameras. But not LG. The company has instead added another camera to their upcoming LG V10 smartphone, in order to allow for wide-angle selfies that no longer require a ridiculous selfie stick.

The second camera is intended to be used for group photos, with it allowing the smartphone to have a greater field of vision of up to 120 degrees, which is the reason why despite being an utterly horrific and embarrassing contraption selfie sticks actually managed to garner a modicum of popularity.  If LG’s innovate design choice becomes industry standard in the future, we can expect to see the fledgling selfie stick market implode, which can only be a good thing so well done, LG.

Outside of these two cameras LG keeps with the dual theme by also offering a second screen, which is displayed at the very top of the smartphone and grants users a quicker method of accessing apps and the like, along with also displaying notifications while you’re busy tinkering around with the main screen. Users can also choose to set this feature to “always on,” with it therefore displaying the time, the phone’s battery and weather reports while the main 5.7-inch QHD display is off.

In terms of what’s underneath the hood, the two front-facing cameras come in at 5MP each, while it also features a 16MP F1.8 rear-facing camera that can also record in 4K, and boasts optical image stabilization and wind noise filtering.

It comes packed with a Snapdragon 808 SoC processor and 4GB RAM, along with 64GB of storage that can be increased up to a whopping 2TB. Its removable battery clocks in at 3,000mAh, with it also featuring a fingerprint sensor and NFC. It’ll run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

In terms of design, the smartphone is undeniably sleek looking, though according to LG is also capable of withstanding a few bumps and bruises thanks to its “Dura Skin” materials that coat its otherwise entirely stainless steel design. Unlike other smartphones that highlight durability, the V10 manages to remember a good-looking device, though we prefer the plain back rather than the segmented design. The smartphone will be available in the colors Space Black, Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue, and Opal Blue.

The V10 is set to go on sale in Korea later this month, with launches in the US, China, and select countries in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East set to follow. There’s no word on a European release.
