Xiaomi Announce Ridiculously Cheap 49-inch 4K TV for just $640

Xiaomi has announced a great-looking 49-inch 4K TV, which will retail for the staggeringly low price of CN¥3,999, or $640.

The TV, branded the MI TV 2, comes with build-in Android (though other apps can be easily side-loaded), a 1.45GHz quad-core CPU, Mali-450 MP4 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Xiaomi also showed off a neat little feature that we can’t believe hasn’t been implemented in other TVs yet: a button on the TV that makes its remote control beep, thus ensuring that those pesky devices will never get lost down the back of the couch again.

The MI TV 2 also has its speakers stored in separate parts in order to ensure that its thickness remained at 15.5mm. This means a wired audio bar with mid-range and treble drivers, along with a Bluetooth subwoofer with an 8-inch driver, are also included as part of the package. These speakers can even be connected to your mobile device via Bluetooth, which is a great extra feature.

But here’s the bad news: though it’s being made available in China as early as May 27th, Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed whether this TV will ever make its way to the West. We can dream though, right?

Scroll through the gallery below to marvel at the beauty of the MI TV 2, and hope that one day Xiaomi will do the right thing and give us a slice of the action, too.
