The Weeknd Launches H&M Menswear Line

It seems these days, everything that musician The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) touches turns to gold. His recent album Starboy has been doing extremely well on the charts, and now, he is releasing a spring collection clothing line with H&M.

The urban menswear collection is called “Spring Icons Selected by The Weeknd,” and includes a range of pieces, from pants and shirts to hooded sweatshirts and jackets. There are 25 pieces in total. He will also be the official “face” of the line. The collaboration between The Weeknd and H&M was announced last year, and this week, they revealed teasers from the completed line. According to reports, the the full campaign will be released later this month (Relaxnews).

“For my generation, the bomber jacket is like a replacement for the suit jacket,” the Weeknd told Billboard. “It’s a piece that men wear every day, and it’s something that I would wear for any occasion, whether it’s on the street or going to an awards ceremony. For me, bomber jackets are smart, but they are also street and have a lot of attitude… When I think about artists today or from the past, I think both of their music and also their look. Nowadays you can’t really draw the line anywhere, you just get inspired by a special vibe, whether it’s a sound or a style. The effect of music on fashion has been immense, especially hip-hop and urban music” (Exclaim).
