Shantel VanSanten is an American actress and model probably best known her role on the CW series “One Tree Hill.” Most recently, she’s been tapped to star in the CW’s drama pilot “The Messengers.” Shantel will play a NASA scientist who works at a New Mexico observatory who investigates a strange impact site.

She has a sister and brother, and she is very close to them. “I have two best friends for life.” Growing up, “I went from thinking I wanted to be a nun at one point, to going to college for journalism. I was involved in the arts…but it wasn’t until I took an acting class when I was 17 that I realized how passionate I felt about it,” (seventeen.com).
Shantel VanSanten went to an all-girls school “with 43 people in my class…I always loved dressing up [at dances] because we wore uniforms to school.” She attended Incarnate Word Academy and Texas Christian University. She wrote a paper in eighth grade in which she said she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.
As a model, Shantel VanSanten was featured in Teen Vogue and Seventeen, among other magazines. As for acting, she has also appeared in “Final Destination,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Glades.”
She shared that she struggles about her looks. “The industry I’m in is tough. For example, I have to mentally and physically prepare to wear a bathing suit a week for a show seen by millions of viewers! Working out seven days a week is not a realistic way to live.”
She added, “I think starting off modeling kind of screwed up my perceptions. The modeling industry often has erratic standards about what a body is supposed to look like…I had someone who was encouraging me to take diet pills...I had a job, and my job was, to be skinny.”
She said she stopped modeling because “I like hamburgers! The truth is I don’t want to place my focus on what I physically look like and push my body to unhealthy extremes” (examiner.com).
Aside from acting, she enjoys volleyball and a variety of watersports, including water and jet-skiing. Shantel VanSanten is single and currently resides in Los Angeles.
