Paula Garces was born in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia on March 20, 1974. When she was 7 years old, she and her family moved to New York, where they resided Harlem until Paula began to make the transition into acting. Her career started off small, like many other famous celebrities in the business, starring in small roles on TV series such as "Law & Order" and "New York Undercover." She eventually landed a recurring (yet uncredited) role as Isabella on the series, "Oz," before booking the role of Pilar Santos on the soap opera, "Guiding Light," from 1999 to 2000.

It wasn't until 2002 that Paula was able to make it into her first film, "Clockstoppers," where she played the lead female role. From here, she continued her rise to success, appearing in a number of films including "Marci X" and "Spin," before being cast as Maria in "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle." This role would go on to recur in two subsequent sequels as well. By 2006, Paula had also locked down the role of Tina Hanlon on FX's gritty cop drama, "The Shield," which went on to last for three more seasons, and is considered one of her most notable roles to date.

As well as acting, Paula has also expanded to creating and producing as well. In fact, along with co-creating the fashion magazine-style series, "The Mun2 Look," and being the exectutive producer of the animated short film, "Red Princess Blues Animated: The Book of Violence," she made a rather peculiar move in 2010, as well. She premiered the first Latina superhero character in a comic book she co-created called "Aluna" at the San Diego Comic-Con. The characters has since expanded into the world of online gaming, gaining over 500,000 subscribers since premiering in "Heroes of Newerth" in 2011.
