Myla Dalbesio was born and raised in Wisconsin. Growing up, she participated in a number of beauty pageants, winning the title of Miss Teen Wisconsin at age 16. It was through the pageant that she was discovered by scouts Jeff and Mary Clarke, who tried putting her into sample size modeling (0-2) despite being somewhere in-between that and plus size (14 and up). She was eventually signed to Ford Models, paving the way to eventually sign with other management agencies including Jag Models and Next Model Management.

Through a Calvin Klein campaign labeled "Perfectly Fit" in November 2014, Myla revealed that she was in fact the biggest model the brand had ever used in one of their campaigns. Having said that at merely a size 10, controversy ensued in the media despite the fact that neither she nor the brand ever labeled her as plus size. Many were upset that someone like Myla, who is not all that big to begin with, would be considered a large model. In the end, everyone seemed to figure out that it was all just a big misunderstanding, and the campaign was simply aimed toward more regular sized women as opposed to either sample size or plus-size.

Beyond her modeling career and the Calvin Klein debacle, Myla also does shows as a performance artist. In 2011, she did three performance art shows titled "Homecoming," "Homecoming: Sophomore Year," and "Young Money." "Young Money" consisted of her dressing up like a stripper, covering herself in fake tanner and champagne, then walking around the Chelsea Art Walk topless as she stared down those in attendance.
