Lauren Cohan was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 7, 1982, before moving to Cherry Hill, New Jersey until becoming a teenager. When she was five years old, her mother converted to Judaism in accordance with her new husband (Lauren's stepfather), and she was then raised Jewish herself. However, these days, she says that she is not religious, but the tradition, culture, and history are still very important to her. At age 13, she and her family moved to her mother's native England, where she would eventually go on to attend the University of Winchester/King Alfred's College in Hampshire, England. She studied drama and English literature while in attendance, and also co-founded and toured with the theater company known as "No Man's Land" while there.

After graduation, Lauren then split her time between England and Los Angeles, California acting in film, television and other non-commercial projects. Her first major break as an actress came in the form of the film "Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj," which was a sequel to the successful Ryan Reynolds film. From there, she landed her first recurring role on The CW series, "Supernatural,' where she played Bela Talbot for six episodes of the show's third season. She continued to book guest roles on series such as "Cold Case" and "Modern Family," as well as films such as "Death Race 2," before landing acquiring a second recurring guest role on another CW series, "The Vampire Diaries," as well as the NBC series, "Chuck."

Of course, Lauren has become most famous for her role as Maggie Greene on AMC's mege-hit zombie series, "The Walking Dead." She joined the series as a recurring guest in season two, and by the end of that season, was bumped up to series regular.
