While known as a redhead, she is a natural blonde. She told, nj.com her best friend "walked into my apartment and said, 'You know, you look funnier as a redhead " you looked like such a bitch when you were blond."

She chose the name "Emma" with she registered for the Screen Actors Guild because the name "Emily Stone" was already taken. Her friends and family still call her Emily. "Emma" is a nickname her mother gave her.

Emma Stone's husky voice is the result of baby colic, which resulted in the development of nodules. She has calluses on her vocal cords as an adult.

Emma Stone told Interview magazine about her first breakup, "I was crawling on the floor. I remember throwing up. Like, within the hour. I remember being on the floor.I have never felt anything quite like that. It was so visceral. It's like someone has killed you and you have to live through it and watch it happen. It was awful."

Emma Stone suffered from anxiety as a child, but after she joined an improve troupe, "that changed my anxiety forever. Forever. You know how sports teach kids teamwork, and how to be strong and brave and confident? Improv was my sport."

Emma Stone was homeschooled for two years during which time she appeared in 16 productions at Valley Youth Theatre. She then enrolled at Xavier College Preparatory as a freshman for one semester, but subsequently dropped out of high school, having convinced her parents to let her move to California to pursue an acting career. Her mother moved with her to Los Angeles where they shared an apartment. Emma was homeschooled so that she could audition during the day.

Emma Stone appeared in small roles in "Medium," and "Malcolm in the Middle." In 2007, she made her film debut in "Superbad." Other roles followed, including "The House Bunny," "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," "Zombieland," "Paper Man," and "Easy A." Her role in "Easy A" earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.

More movie roles came her way, including "Friends with Benefits," "Crazy, Stupid, Love," "The Help," and "The Amazing Spider-Man."

Emma Stone says, "John Candy might be my acting hero. He's the perfect example of someone who can find the humor in the dramatic moments. He just has that broken mirror within him all the time."
