Abbie Cornish grew up on her parent’s 170-acre farm, and has 3 brothers and a sister. Growing up, she said she loved reading encyclopedias. “I know it sounds incredibly geeky, but I loved it. We didn’t have the Internet until I was 12 or 13.”

She began modeling at 13 and her first acting job came at the age of 15 on the Australian series “Children’s Hospital,” where she played a quadriplegic. She left home at 16 to live in Newcastle where she attended high school and wanted to become a veterinarian.

Abbie Cornish learned to drive when she was 12 years old, and has been a vegetarian since she was 13. Her parents divorced when she was 16. She said, “You realize they love each other, but they’re not in love with each other. And I think as a child it’s much better for your parents to split than for them to stay and have dysfunction within the family.”

In 2011, she ranked #89 in FHM Australia’s “100 Sexiest Women in the World” and ranked #33 on Ask Men’s Top 99 “most desirable women” of 2011.

She said of her experience on the film “The Girl,” “I can’t wait to be a mother for sure. I wanted to be a mother for a long time, but I don’t think the time is now. But, I can’t wait.”

Regarding her career, she said, “I’ve been really lucky. I think I’ve been picky, but it’s great to have that payoff. It requires a little bit of patience and waiting for the next gig.” As to “RoboCop,” she said, “I think I’ve done some of my best work in this film.”
