The 2015 Gold Logie Winner Is Carrie Bickmore

This year’s Logie Awards have just wrapped, meaning Karl Stefanovic is twenty beers deep and cracking inappropriate jokes to Conchita Wurst right this second, and once again the TV industry’s night of nights was a glitzy, glamorous affair where critically acclaimed performances were rightfully awarded for their merits. Jokes, it was mostly Home & Away stars and reality show judges being given shiny statues. Also, it went for 46 hours.

Besides Channel Nine’s winter programming marketing exposure, the real winner tonight was The Project presenter Carrie Bickmore, who took away the Gold Logie for best bloody person ever. It was her first time taking away the top gong, after having being nominated for several years in a row.

Using her acceptance speech to raise awareness about brain cancer, which tragically took her husband in 2010, Carrie asked the country to wear a beanie to work tomorrow (Monday) to join her #BeaniesForBrainCancer campaign and received a standing ovation from her contemporaries. #Legend

Elsewhere, TV newcomer and indigenous actress Miranda Tapsell took away two trophies, for Most Popular New Talent and the Graham Kennedy Award For Most Outstanding Newcomer and Foxtel finally received some Logies loving with wins for dramas Wentworth and Devil’s Playground.
