Jeremy Clarkson’s Final Top Gear Appearance to Air This Year, Could Return to BBC

Jeremy Clarkson’s final appearance on Top Gear will air this summer, despite it previously being believed that the remainder of this season of the show would be canned following his axing from hosting duties.

Kim Shillinglaw, the controller of BBC2 and BBC4, has confirmed that Clarkson’s final appearances on the car show will be broadcast by the BBC, with her saying: “No way would I want the available material not to be seen by viewers.” Clarkson was ousted from the show after he punched one of its producers in the face, over an alleged disagreement regarding food server at a hotel the show’s crew were staying in.

News that Clarkson’s final appearance will be aired by the broadcaster follows the admission from Shillinglaw that the BBC would not be opposed to bringing the presenter back into the fold for another show. Shillinglaw said: “It’s serious and unfortunate what happened but there is no ban on Jeremy being on the BBC.

“It’s a big deal what happened and Jeremy, as any human being would, needs some time.”

Yes, I’m sure he needs plenty of time to recover after punching that man in the face. What a harrowing experience it must’ve been for him.

This is another indication of how gutless the BBC has been when it came to dealing with the Clarkson incident. In any other line of work, punching a colleague would be regarded as a sackable offence, but the BBC decided they’d simply not renew his contract so that Clarkson would be free to the BBC at any point.

It seems that the BBC values the viewership that Clarkson brings with him more than it does ethics or employees rights.
