Johnny Depp Injured While In Australia For Pirates Of The Caribbean 5

Johnny Depp has suffered an injury to his hand while in Queensland to film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The Wrap reports that Depp, 51, was not on set or filming at the time, but will return to the United States for surgery.

Depp’s absence is not likely to heavily impact production, with scenes not involving his character, Captain Jack Sparrow, to be filmed in coming weeks.

The latest film in the Pirates franchise has been filming on the Gold Coast since last month. It also stars Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa.

Disney have confirmed that Depp’s injury is unlikely to affect the release date. Pirates 5 is scheduled for release in July.
