Kurt Cobain And Being Canadian Amongst First Batch Of Hot Docs Films Announced

Hot Docs just announced the first round of documentary features that will be a part of this year’s Special Presentations program, and they include docs on Kurt Cobain and “Being Canadian.”

In total, 17 high-profile world and international premieres were announced, which include award-winners from the recent international festival circuit and works by master filmmakers or featuring some star subjects.

“Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck,” which will see its Canadian premiere at Hot Docs, is the first fully authorized cinematic portrait of music legend Kurt Cobain, lead singer of the 90s grunge band Nirvana, never-before-seen home movies, striking animation and interviews with those who knew him best take us into the life and mind of an icon.

The world premiere of “Being Canadian” will also take place during the festival. Calgary hometown boy turned Hollywood comedy guru Rob Cohen (“The Simpsons,” “The Big Bang Theory”) returns to Canada on an epic quest to rediscover our national identity. Meeting up with Mike Myers, Seth Rogen and even the Trailer Park Boys along the way, just imagine Sherman’s March, but wearing a toque.

Showtimes and the full selection of Hot Docs 2015 films will be available on March 17th. Single tickets and package redemption will also be available at that time.

Hot Docs runs from April 23rd – May 3rd.
