‘Game of Thrones’ IMAX Release Gets Pushed Back a Week

Earlier this month, HBO and IMAX made the surprise announcement that “Game of Thrones” will be making a brief trip to IMAX screens later this month. But fans are going to have to wait to see the Battle of The Wall come to life like never before.

The release of “Game of Thrones” on IMAX has been pushed back to January 29, with screenings until February 5. IMAX has added an additional 50 theaters to the lineup, bringing the total to 200 IMAX screens across the country.

In addition to an exclusive trailer for “Game of Thrones” Season 5, the IMAX event will feature the final two episodes of “Game of Thrones” Season 4; both of which have been digitally remastered for IMAX. The episodes include season four’s penultimate installment, “The Watchers on the Wall;” which featured an epic battle at the Wall and “The Children;” which closed out the season with several characters headed in new directions as well as a few who didn’t make it out of the episode alive…

A preliminary list of participating IMAX facilities includes theaters in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New York, San Antonio, Washington, D.C. and Seattle. IMAX has posted a complete list on its website, but the surge of “Game of Thrones” related inquiries appears to be causing that site some problems at the moment.

Tickets for the “Game of Thrones” IMAX experience will go on sale this Friday, January 16.
