HBO Canada And Co Rack Up Awards Nods

HBO and Showtime programming seen in Canada on The Movie Network, Movie Central, and their multiplex channel HBO Canada makes its mark this awards season, with 24 Golden Globe Award nominations and 16 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

For outstanding performances in 2014 in film and television categories, HBO received nominations for “True Detective,” “Game of Thrones,” “Girls,” “Oliver Kitteridge,” “The Normal Heart,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “Silicon Valley,” “The Knick,” and “Veep,” while Showtime’s nominations include “The Affair,” “Ray Donovan,” “House of Lies,” “Shameless,” and “Nurse Jackie.” Subscribers can currently catch up on many of today’s award-nominated programming via multiple platforms including TMN GO and TMN On Demand in Eastern Canada, and on the go with Shaw Go Movie Central app, Bell TV app, Telus Optik on the go, and Movie Central On Demand in Western Canada.

HBO highlights from the Golden Globes announcement include: four nominations for “True Detective,” including Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, and acting nods for Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, and Michelle Monaghan; three nominations for the critically lauded miniseries “Olive Kitteridge”; comedy acting nods for “Girls'” Lena Dunham and “Veep’s” Julia Louis-Dreyfus; and three nominations for HBO’s powerful original film “The Normal Heart.” Clive Owen also received an acting nod for his role as Dr. John Thackery in the drama “The Knick.”

The 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards will air on Sunday, January 11th live across the country at 8pm on CTV, and the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are presented Sunday, January 25th.
