Dominic Cooper Signs on For Marvel’s ‘Agent Carter’

When Marvel first announced that Haley Atwell would reprise her title role in the “Agent Carter” TV series, it was widely expected that Dominic Cooper would also be involved in the show. Today, Marvel made it official.

Over at Marvel.com, the announcement was made that Cooper will once again portray Howard Stark in “Agent Carter,” although Marvel didn’t specify if Cooper is slated to appear in all eight episodes of the first season.

Cooper previously played Howard Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger and in Marvel’s One-Shot film, Agent Carter. For the “Agent Carter” TV series, Cooper will appear alongside Atwell, Chad Michael Murray, Enver Gjokaj, James D’Arcy and Shea Whigham. The “Agent Carter” television show will take place in 1946 and follow Peggy Carter as she covertly works for the SSR (a precursor organization to S.H.I.E.L.D.).

In addition to his role as Howard Stark, Cooper is well known for playing James Bond creator Ian Fleming in the TV film, Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond. He also appeared in The Escapist, Mamma Mia!, The Devil’s Double, Need for Speed and the upcoming film, Dracula Untold.

“Agent Carter” is expected to premiere on ABC in early 2015.
