New HD Deadpool Test Footage Leaks

Leaked test footage of Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Marvel’s anti-hero Deadpool has surfaced online, giving fans a glimmer of hope that a feature film might make it to the big screen.

Audiences were introduced to a glimpse of Reynolds’ onscreen take on the loud-mouth superhero in 2012’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. While 20th Century FOX has owned the rights to Deadpool for a while and have been toying with the idea of a feature film, it has never materialised.

In 2012 Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld revealed that director Tim Miller, who signed on to helm the solo adaptation back in 2011, had developed test footage with his visual effects company Blur Studio. That footage has now leaked.

The quasi-trailer for the would-be film features Reynolds’ Deadpool talking to the audience in his characteristically profane and brassy tone (and also singing Gwen Stefani‘s “Hollaback Girl”) before kicking off an impressive action sequence with a car full of thugs.

Fans have already embraced the less than two minutes of footage but it’s still unclear whether or not a Deadpool film will ever see the light of day.
