Comic-Con 2014: ‘Community’ Creator Teases Donald Glover’s Return

During a recent San Diego Comic-Con panel, Community creator Dan Harmon revealed several details about the show’s upcoming return. Harmon indicated that among the characters who will potentially be returning with it isTroy Barnes, played by the multi-talented Donald Glover.

As the AV Club reports, Harmon indicated that Jonathan Banks will not be returning, however, depending on John Oliver‘s schedule over at HBO, his character, Professor Duncan, may be coming back. Meanwhile, Harmon is apparently saving Glover’s return for the “movie” part of #SixSeasonsAndAMovie.

Harmon said he was unsure about continuing the show at first, but decided to make the journey over to Yahoo Screen after meeting with their people, who he said “seemed really smart and cool.” Though he hasn’t yet begun writing the new season, Harmon said he intends to “make the same show and let the lack of boundaries [on the internet] make themselves felt.”

He added that he doesn’t want to “make the episodes 49 minutes long and say the F-word the entire time” just for the sake of it. The show’s release format will also remain unchanged. Unlike other streamed shows like Arrested Development, each episode will appear on Yahoo Screen weekly and not with the entire season uploaded at once.

According to Deadline, Harmon said the show’s famously rabid fans shouldn’t expect the sixth season of Community to premiere on Yahoo Screen any time soon. The only timeframe the creator offered was saying that it “won’t come before Christmas 2014.”
