Comic-Con 2014: Marvel Announces ANOTHER Mystery Movie for 2018

Uh… did Marvel Studios screw something up? Earlier this week they announced the release dates for five new superhero movies between 2017 and 2019. Now, just a few days later, they have announced (via ComingSoon) that yet another film will be released on May 4, 2018. Did they just forget to mention that one? Did someone neglect to proofread the original press release? Did they decide to greenlight another new movie over just the last couple of days?

With this announcement, Marvel Studios’ upcoming release calendar now looks like the following:

May 1, 2015 – Avengers: Age of Ultron

July 17, 2015 – Ant-Man

May 6, 2016 – Captain America 3

July 8, 2016 – Untitled Marvel Studios Project

May 5, 2017 – Untitled Marvel Studios Project

July 28, 2017 – Untitled Marvel Studios Project

November 3, 2017 – Untitled Marvel Studios Project

May 4, 2018 – Untitled Marvel Studios Project

July 6, 2018 – Untitled Marvel Studios Project

November 2, 2018 – Untitled Marvel Studios Project

May 3, 2019 – Untitled Marvel Studios Project

That’s a LOT of blank spaces on a very full line-up. We thoroughly expect Marvel Studios to announces at least a few of these titles in their Hall H panel on Saturday, July 24. One of them is surely going to be Doctor Strange. It’s also highly probable that sequels to Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy are coming as well. Not to mention The Avengers 3. But now there’s plenty of room for new movies starring new heroes.

Which movies would you like to see the most? And are you worried that three Marvel Studios movies a year might make these films feel less special as time goes on? Will you still look forward to them as much when they’re coming out every couple of months?

Marvel Studios is bound to unveil some of its plans this week at Comic-Con 2014. And CraveOnline will be there. Watching. Judging. And probably in desperate need of some sleep.
