FX Renews Fargo For Second Season

The FX adaptation of The Coen Brothers’ Fargo may not have been a ratings smash, but Fargo was critically acclaimed and it earned 18 Emmy nominations earlier this month.

At the Television Critics Association Press Tour, FX announced that Fargo will return for a second season of ten episodes. Much like True Detective, the new season of Fargo will be a brand new story, with new characters and a new time period. And unlike American Horror Story, no cast members from the first season of Fargo are expected to play new characters or reprise their roles.

Noah Hawley will remain with Fargo for its second season after writing all ten episodes of the first season.

In a statement, FX’s John Landgraf said “We could not be more proud of Fargo. Noah’s audacious, bordering on hubristic riff on my favorite Coen brothers film earned 18 Emmy nominations – the most for a single program in our history. Fargo was nothing short of breathtaking and we look forward to the next installment.”

According to Hitfix, Langraf told the TCA that the earliest that Fargo Season 2 could premiere would be the fall of 2015.
