Showtime Renews ‘Shameless’ & ‘House of Lies’

Late last year, Showtime gave “Episodes” an early renewal for its fourth season before the third season had even begun. Now the rest of Showtime’s winter lineup has also been renewed.

Showtime has officially ordered a fifth season of “Shameless” and a fourth season of “House of Lies.” Based on the original British series of the same name, “Shameless” stars William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Cameron Monaghan, Jeremy Allen White, Emma Kenney and Ethan Cutkosky as members of the dysfunctional Gallagher family; with Joan Cusack, Shanola Hampton and Steve Howey costarring in supporting roles. “House of Lies” follows the darkly comedic exploits of Marty Kaan (Don Cheadle) and his management consultant team including Jeannie (Kristen Bell), Clyde (Ben Schwartz) and Doug (Josh Lawson).

During its current fourth season, “Shameless” has emerged as one of Showtime’s top original series, with 5.5 million viewers across all platforms. By comparison, “House of Lies” has a smaller pull with 3 million viewers across all platforms. But “House of Lies” is relatively even with its season 2 numbers.

Showtime will likely premiere the new seasons of “Shameless” and “House of Lies” in January 2015.
