Martin Short To Host 2014 Canadian Screen Awards

Back by popular demand, comedian Martin Short will once again host the Canadian Screen Awards.

“We are eager to see what Martin Short has in store for us at this year’s awards, as we celebrate the best in Canadian talent,” said Jennifer Dettman, executive director of Studio and Unscripted Programming, in an official press release. “Last year he pulled out all the stops, making the inaugural Canadian Screen Awards an unforgettable night. He is such a renowned entertainer, and we are honoured to have him as our host for the second year in a row.”

Both an “SCTV” and “Saturday Night Live” alumnus, Short is one of Canada’s most successful film and television comedians. The Hamilton, Ontario native’s career spans not only the big and small screens, but the stage as well, where he won a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway revival of “Little Me.” In addition to starring in his own television series and specials, Short’s film career includes starring roles in “Three Amigos” and the “Father of the Bride” movies, with television roles in the American legal thriller “Damages” and next season’s “Mulaney.”

The Awards air on March 9th from the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto.
