Sydney Kings To Debut NBA Recruit Against Wildcats

Sam Young’s transition from the NBA to the NBL will see the newest member of the Sydney Kings go against another US star, Perth Wildcat James Ennis, next weekend.

Young is expected to join the Kings in the coming days and should be right to take on the Wildcats and their Miami Heat recruit (and leading MVP candidate) James Ennis at Perth Arena on Sunday, November 24.

The 28-year-old spent the last four seasons in the NBA, starting 52 times in stints with the Memphis Grizzlies, Philadelphia 76ers and Indiana Pacers.

There has been still no word from the Sydney Kings, but we’re presuming the team is waiting for their new forward to touch down before making the signing official.

According to Fox Sports, the Kings will cut underperforming point guard Jesse Sanders in order to clear up enough space for Young.

Unfortunately for Kings fans, the team won’t play their next Young-eligible home game for a month- December 14 against the Wollongong Hawks.

In other NBL news, the Adelaide 36ers defeated the plummeting New Zealand Breakers 95-94 in Auckland on Friday.

Star Gary Irvin stole a Breakers inbound pass with four seconds remaining before dribbling the length of the court and converting the buzzer-beater to give the 36ers and improbable win against last year’s champions.

The 36ers received 26 points from import Ervin and 20 and nine rebounds from big man Daniel Johnson.

New Zealand were led by 21 points from Tom Abercrombie.
