Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones Trailer Hits

For the first time in half a decade, there won't be a new Paranormal Activity movie in theaters for Halloween…so you better spend that time revving up with the trailer from the series' first official spinoff film Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.

The trailer released Thursday (but previewed favorably by Crave's own Fred Topel after its debut at Screamfest 2013 last weekend) brings us the first major detour in the series away from the bloody escapades of Katie and her family, instead focusing on Jesse (Andrew Jacobs), an Hispanic kid from Oxnard.

From the looks of this trailer, Jesse is having a tough time grappling with a force who seems pretty darn familiar to PA fans.

In addition to Jacobs, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones also stars Richard Cabral, Carlos Pratts, Eddie J. Fernandez, Jorge Diaz, David Fernandez Jr., Kimberly Ables Jindra, Tonja Kahlens and Frank Salinas.

The film directed by Christopher Landon (writer of Paranormal Activity 2, 3 and 4 as well as the son of actor Michael Landon) hits U.S. theaters January 3, 2014.
