Are We There Yet? – Top 10 Travel Destinations Worth Breaking The Bank For

Hotels.com recently released their Top 10 travel destinations worth breaking the bank for, and Canada made the cut.

The list, which is based on Hotel.com’s Hotel Price Index™ (HPI™) that helps to zero-in on the most expensive destinations for Canadian travellers, is as follows:

1. Paradise Island, Bahamas
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $394

Been to the Bahamas and it is truly idyllic!

2. Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $360

On my must-see list… still haven’t gotten there but I will!

3. Lahaina, Hawaii
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $303

Hawaii – like heaven on earth. So scenic and full of amazing people.

4. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $301

If you find the right resort, this is a perfect getaway (especially in wintertime when we’re freezing our you-know-what’s off!).

5. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $285

One of my best friends lives there and tells me it’s one of the greatest places on earth!

6. Key West, Florida
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $274

My old stomping grounds – I grew up in South Florida and frequented the Keys at least once or twice a year. It’s always a party down there.

7. New York City, New York
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $264

The Big Apple – everyone has to go once.

8. Dubrovnik, Croatia
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $255

A surprising entry and one that I haven’t been to, but I hear it’s breathtakingly beautiful.

9. Lake Louise, Alberta
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $250

Oh Canada, Oh Louise, why am I not surprised you made this list?

10. Napa, California
Average Daily Hotel Rate: $242

West Coast, sunshine, wineries… need I say more?

Sometimes a destination is too special to not spend a lot of money on a vacation there – after all, you only live once right? My husband and I have gone on a few trips where “money was no object” (but obviously wouldn’t cause us to be eating out of a can for months after out return). On what destination would you spend a lot of money to see? I’d love to hear from you.

Get out there!

Bon Voyage,

Jenn
