Montreal Fashion Week Turns 25

Montreal Fashion Week is underway, and it’s the 25th installment of the event – label Bodybag by June is also commemorating its 15th year at Fashion Week and Dinh Ba Design its tenth.

To celebrate its anniversary, organizers of Montreal Fashion Week invited designers to showcase their collections for the Spring/Summer 2014 season without paying the usual entrance fees (which are normally around $1500). Sensation Mode co-president Jean-François Daviau told The Canadian Press, “I think when a designer does a fashion show, that pushes him to enhance his creativity and explore more and challenge himself because you have the reaction. I think it’s important for the designer, but also for a city. It’s a way of branding and bringing a lot of energy into a creative industry.”

Montreal Fashion Week runs until September 6th. For a complete listing of today’s events, as well as those taking place during the rest of Montreal Fashion Week, visit their website.
