President Donald Trump visited the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland for what is reportedly a routine dental and physical check-up on Tuesday.
This visit marked the president’s third doctor visit in the past year, sparking speculations about his fitness to govern through the upcoming midterm cycles.
Donald Trump is back at Walter Reed Medical Centre for the third time in a year
Tuesday’s visit is one of a series that started with the April 25 visit, following which the White House celebrated his optimal cholesterol levels. In October 2025, the president reportedly went for a “scheduled follow-up,” which later turned out to be a CT scan to evaluate long-time cardiovascular baselines. A trip on May 2 was accounted for as a dental examination. Tuesday’s visit was formally pre-announced on May 11 as a preventive medical and dental assessment.
While the White House has repeatedly said that the president is in “excellent health”, visible signs of deterioration have citizens concerned.
The president’s hand bruising, for example, has been explained by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt as stemming from “frequent handshaking” combined with aspirin use. Contrary to this theory, bruising has since then been visible on both hands.
The president’s leg swelling was formally declared as chronic venous insufficiency, common in people over 70. Opponents have also zeroed in on the “micro naps” where Trump seems to slip into sleep in the middle of sessions.
Medical experts have evaluated his symptoms and said that they align with an array of diseases, including a stroke and dementia. The latter has seen growing attention due to Trump’s slurred speech and frequent factual lapses in speeches.
While the results of the latest visit remain unknown, scrutiny is fierce on what information the White House is gatekeeping. Donald Trump will soon become the oldest sitting president in the United States, a milestone that comes with unanswered questions about the reality of his health and whether he is fit to continue.
