Just when you thought you couldn’t be shocked by anything anymore, People magazine comes along and declares Paul Rudd its Sexiest Man Alive for 2021. Though at 52, Rudd is the magazine’s third oldest man to receive the honor (behind Harrison Ford and Sean Connery), anyone will tell you that part of his sex appeal is that he seems to be ageless.

He’s also a humble, nerdy Beta, making him an unlikely winner of such an award.
“I do have an awareness, enough to know that when people hear that I’d be picked for this, they would say, ‘What?'” the actor said in his cover story interview. “This is not false humility. There are so many people that should get this before me.”
But just because he’s as surprised as the rest of us doesn’t mean he isn’t going to enjoy it.
“I’m going to lean into it hard. I’m going to own this. I’m not going to try to be like ‘Oh, I’m so modest.’ I’m getting business cards made. But all of my friends will destroy me and I expect them to. And that’s why they’re my friends,” he said with his trademark humor. “I’m hoping now that I’ll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B Jordan. And I figure I’ll be on a lot more yachts. I’m excited to expand my yachting life. And I’ll probably try to get better at brooding in really soft light. I like to ponder. I think this is going to help me become more inward and mysterious. And I’m looking forward to that.”
To say Twitter was pleased with Rudd’s new title would be an understatement. Plenty of people have been waiting for this moment for, oh, 25 years since they first discovered Rudd on screen.
