Because of its blockbuster ratings, AMC’s The Walking Dead is a very coveted gig for actors and actresses. But perhaps no other show on television has a higher turnover rate. Even series regulars often meet gruesome ends on this series.
What are you gonna do? It’s the zombie apocalypse and s*** is gonna happen. Usually, the former castmates have gone on to bigger and better things. Former Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal is even lined up to be Marvel’s Punisher this season on Daredevil!
To celebrate the return of The Walking Dead’s sixth season, Entertainment Weekly gathered together 11 former cast members (and one guest star) for a very sober reminder of the dearly departed. Needless to say, these are spoilers if you aren’t up to date with the show!

From left to right, you’ll see Madison Lintz (Sophia), Kyla Kenedy (Mika), Jeryl Prescott (Jacqui), Brighton Sharbino (Lizzie), Chad L. Coleman (Tyreese), Tyler James Williams (Noah), David Morrissey (The Governor), Emily Kinney (Beth), IronE Singleton (T-Dog), Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (Bob), and Robin Lord Taylor (Sam). Taylor was never one of the stars, but he did meet a gruesome end in Terminus.
Of these characters, Noah and Tyreese had the most harrowing deaths, although T-Dog’s demise was also pretty horrifying. Bob and Jacqui got to leave this world at peace, which is more than could be said for Lizzie, Mika, and Sophia. The Governor only got a fraction of the suffering that he deserved, and Beth’s death was just sloppy writing.
The Walking Dead midseason premiere hits AMC on Sunday, February 14.
