Androids Dream In The New ‘Westworld’ Trailer

By definition, androids are not real. They’re robots, or even “synthetic beings.” They aren’t human…but no one told that to the androids in Westworld!

Next month, HBO is set to premiere Westworld, the updated version of Michael Crichton’s 1973 feature film by Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and J.J. Abrams. Much like the movie, the androids are being exploited by humanity and unknowingly forced to exist as slaves. But perhaps these androids have been made too well, because it seems like some of them are question their lot in life, even as they wonder whether their lives have any reality at all.

Via our sister site, ComingSoon, HBO has released a new extended trailer for Westworld that deals in the dreams of one android in particular: Evan Rachel Woods’ Dolores Abernathy. What Dolores will soon learn is that she never had any choices in life at all…until now.  And she’s not the only one who is awakening to discover their true role in the future of sin and the dawn of artificial intelligence.

This series has a ridiculously talented line up of cast members, including Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, and Jimmi Simpson. HBO also has high hopes that Westworld can become the network’s new flagship series, now that Game of Thrones is winding down its epic run. We’ll soon know whether this series has what it takes to fill that void.

Westworld will premiere on HBO on Sunday, October 2.
