Hooray for Apes! It’s the New ‘Kong: Skull Island’ Trailer

Warner Bros. is keeping the Godzilla train a-rollin’. Functionally a follow-up to 2014’s American version of Godzilla, the studio has put together an updated of King Kong (the first seen in theaters since Peter Jackson’s version in 2005) which will serve as the second film in a now-established Kong/Godzilla multi-film crossover franchise, and will eventually lead to a feature called Godzilla vs. Kong, currently slated for 2020. The new film, called Kong: Skull Island, takes place in the 1970s, and follows more or less the same story as the 1933 original. This will be the eighth feature film to star King Kong.

Kong: Skull Island is directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, previously known for the 2013 indie film The Kings of Summer. It is set for theatrical release on March 10th, 2017.

The newest preview of Kong: Skull Island debuted this afternoon at the San Diego Comic-Con. We have it here for your viewing pleasure. If you’re into giant apes – and who isn’t into giant apes? – watch and enjoy. And know that he’ll give the smackdown to a big radioactive gorilla/whale soon enough.
