NAIAS 2017 | Porsche Unveils New 911 GTS Models

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…” still applies — whether in Stuttgart or Detroit. So, Porsche used NAIAS 2017 to show the world its latest 911 GTS Models (which bear an understandable resemblance to 911s of the past).

Front and center at the Porsche stage stood the variations of the 911: The Carrera GTS with rear-wheel drive, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS with all-wheel drive and the 911 Targa 4 GTS with all-wheel drive. As is 911 tradition, the cars employ a flat-six cylinder, 3.0 liter engine — now with larger turbochargers that deliver 450 horsepower (30 horsepower more than the current 911 Carrera S and 20 horsepower beyond the previous, naturally aspirated GT.)

All GTS models come standard with a seven-speed manual transmission. Also, for those folks who don’t seem to understand why they bought a 911 in the first place, Porsche offers the seven-speed Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch transmission as an option for those wishing to take the fun out of their 911 – an otherwise spectacular driver’s car.

In the styling department, the GTS models are based on the Carrera 4/4S body, helping to create that classic and eternal 911 line. Distinctive 20-inch center lock wheels painted in satin black join black GTS logos on the doors for further visual pop. Those black accents exist to allow Porsche lovers to identify the 2018 911 GTS crop from its predecessors.

Porsche also used NAIAS 2017 to announce the full pricing spectrum for the 911 GTS line. The number came in as such:

  • 911 Carrera GTS: $ 119,000
  • 911 Carrera 4 GTS: $ 125,900
  • 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet: $ 131,300
  • 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet: $ 138,200
  • 911 Targa 4 GTS: $ 138,200

All of the above models will be available in April 2017.
