The Weeknd Cleans Up At Juno Awards

The Weeknd took home five Juno Awards this past weekend (three at Saturday night’s gala and two during last night’s televised event), coming out on top, while artists like Justin Bieber and Buffy Sainte-Pierre also won their fair share of awards.

Amongst the Junos that The Weeknd received included album of the year and single of the year. Bieber won the Fan Choice Award (but was not at the event in Calgary), and Sainte-Pierre won for Aboriginal Album of the Year and Contemporary Roots Album of the Year for Power in the Blood, which won last year’s Polaris Music Prize.

Adele’s 25 won for International Album of the Year, and Group of the Year went to Walk Off The Earth. Breakthrough Artist of the Year was awarded to Alessia Cara. “It’s insane. It really doesn’t feel like it’s real. I was just telling my mom it really doesn’t feel like it’s happening,” the 19-year-old told The Star backstage. “It hasn’t processed in my brain yet. It hasn’t hit the part of my brain that processes things yet. I’m floating above myself right now.”
